and the mysterious 4 Year Old Adult at

Thank you for giving me the total of 7 awards since December! Wow, I appreciate your encouragement about blogging.

These bloggers have been understanding as I’ve been pondering if I wanted to

accept these WordPress awards; this last week I learned:

I can accept the awards and pass them on in order to build community. Now I get it!

Blogging is not just about sharing MY ideas; yes, I get to share my ideas, but I also can receive and enjoy many other blogger’s ideas. I get to celebrate others! That is what these awards are about.

Buckle your seat-belts, the flight around the world of blog-land is about to begin….

And now, introducing, the First Award:

Erika Kind describes this as “The Premio Dardos Award exists to acknowledge the values that every blogger shows in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day. These stamps were created with the intention of promoting fraternization between bloggers, a way of showing affection and gratitude for work that adds value to the Web.”

So, Erika and the 4 Year Old Adult, I accept the Primos Dartos Awards you gave me last week; thank you again for nominating me!

The Second Category:

Blog Tour Award

Thank you, Erika Kind, for being so kind 😉 and nominating me for this award. I missed your deadline, but here are my answers.

Now here are the questions I am supposed to answer:

  1. What am I working on at the moment?

I’m thinking about lifelong learners and what creates that spark in people. I also have started selling art and greeting cards online (check it out at: ). Also I enjoy writing down my thoughts about homeschooling, and I have a book in process on that topic.

  1. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I am not focusing on lifelong learning for just the traditional classroom, which is what some of the writing out there on this topic is about. I’m focusing on lifelong learning from a personal standpoint (that can be applied to education, but is more from my desire to understand more about how life works.)

  1. Why do I write and create what do I do?

I write and create to bring more hope into the world. God has given me the gift of writing, so I’m glad I get to share it with others!

  1. How does my writing and creative process work?

My creative process comes sometimes through moments of inspiration, or I see something beautiful and want to preserve it through a photo or poem. Other times I set myself to write on a certain topic and sees what comes out.

I nominate these three delightful bloggers that focus on writing:

  1. Janice, teaching us how to blog and network effectively, at
  2. Patricia, educating us on how to teach and connect with students, at
  3. Sue, sharing the thoughts God inspires her to write, over at

Congratulations! And here are your cards of appreciation (the photos were taken in Costa Rica. May you be able to go visit there someday, if you have not already. J )

To accept this award,

  1. Accept the award and thank the person that nominated you.
  2. Answer the four questions below.
  3. What am I working on at the moment?
  4. How does my work differ from others in my genre?
  5. Why do I write and create what do I do?
  6. How does my writing and creative process work?
  7. Pass the award on to three other bloggers (if you desire!)

As we stop over in China to fuel up,

The Third Category:

Versatile Blog Award:

Thank you, Carol and Niki, for these awards! I enjoy variety, and this award celebrates that. The seven facts about myself are:

  1. I love to write so much, I taught myself how to be ambidextrous by writing out a verse from the Bible every day for several years.
  2. Cake decorating was a hobby of mine when I was in junior high, and I created two multi-layer cakes with white pillars and everything! One was a wedding cake, and the other was for an 80th birthday party.
  3. I had a pet lamb when I was little. So, yes, “Mary, had a little lamb…” His name was Lamby.
  4. Because we had sheep on our farm for many years, I have a spinning wheel.
  5. I taught myself how to spin yarn on that spinning wheel (that came from New Zealand!), and knitted a sweater for myself. It took me several years (because I took my time and worked on other projects), but it is done. It is VERY warm!
  6. I love the colors of new, baby leaves during spring.
  7. Blogging on WordPress has enriched my life more than I imagined because I’m getting to make friends all over the world!

We swoop over Australia…

Jo from Little Women! Her spunk, joy for life, and drive to become a published writer inspires me.

2. Why did you decide to begin blogging?

In August of 2013, I felt ready to share my thoughts…people had encouraged me to do it before, but I wasn’t ready until then. For months I would post one thing every two weeks, and send it off. My first readers were friends from Facebook. It wasn’t until April of 2014 that I started interacting with other bloggers on WordPress, and I’m so glad I did!

3. If you could go back anywhere on your own timeline to give yourself some advice – would you?

Yes! Take more risks.

4. If you could go out for a cup of coffee with any one person – living or dead – who would you choose & why?

Jesus Christ. I would love to feel His love in the flesh, not just spiritually.

5. Is there any one particular place that you would like to travel to if time and money were unlimited?

6. Do you prefer mountains or oceans?

7.Is there any activity that you’ve never tried that you would like to be able to do?

Being a wife and a mom. J I’m hopeful it will come soon.

8. What person or event influence you the most?

My Mom has influenced me the most—through her love, encouragement, and prayers.

9. Would yourself from 20 years ago recognize you now?

Yes. I’m a bit more with the times now.

10.Do you enjoy crossword puzzles?

Sort of. I don’t seek them out, but if one is laying around I might try it.

The rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
  2. Put the Award logo on your blog.
  3. Answer the ten questions sent to you.

Back in December 2014, Sandi, nominated me for a Virtual Blog Tour award, and since there was a deadline attached, I’ll just say, “Thank you, Sandi, for nominating me AND understanding when I turned you down. Hello Friends, A curious, kind, practical, and energetic writer, wife, mother, and teacher is one way to describe me. I enjoy thinking about transitions--in schools, churches, families, relationships, and even countries. I'm passionate about learning, and I love working with people. Stop by often to see which kind of transition I'm thinking about, and I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Peace! ~Mary Hope
