Velvety Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Stirring this pudding with a wooden spoon last night brought back memories of cooking dinner at our electric stove. I grew up on the farm where my Mom had my three siblings and I cook dinner once a week. This pudding brightened up the end of many of my meals, and I hope it adds to your meal as well!

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup cornstarch
2 eggs
4 cups milk
1/2 tsp vanilla

Place the sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch in a medium-sized pot and mix until blended. Add the eggs, stir, and then add the milk.

Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil (about 10-15 minutes). Boil one minute, take off the heat, and then add the vanilla. Place in dishes to serve. Makes 6-8 servings depending on how big they are.

Chill and then serve.

  2. Oh yum! How delightful these pudding pics are! And nice memories too…You make me recall to mind about my mom making pudding too….it was always a surprise, last minute, after dinner kind of thing…Not sure why, but she’d decide quickly to make it and it was always good!
