We had been deep along the trail side of the mountain–off to the side of the main trial with the traditional groups of redwoods; then we entered back onto the main trail and saw the afternoon sun slanting down through the branches. Muir Woods becomes magical when the sunlight pierces deep into the glade! The photos above are my favorite, but here are a few more:

We even got to go inside one:

Next we went through the mountains to Muir Beach to have a little picnic by the ocean:

Then we went back to be with Stephen’s family and they gave us a little surprise wedding shower!

Seeing the huge redwood trees, the ocean, and hanging out with family was the best way to celebrate the first day of 2016. This is going to be a year where health prevails and dreams are fulfilled!

Hello Friends, A curious, kind, practical, and energetic writer and teacher is one way to describe me. I enjoy thinking about transitions--in schools, churches, families, relationships, and even countries. I'm passionate about learning, and I love working with students. Stop by often to see which kind of transition I'm thinking about, and I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Peace! ~Mary Hope
