Celebrating 40 Years of Marriage

On January 14th my parents celebrated 40 years of marriage! My Dad didn’t talk much, but he knew who we were, and he ate a chocolate eclair to celebrate and shared it with Mom. Then he fell asleep.

Since my Mom doesn’t like refined sugar, I made a Anniversary fruit cup instead, and I carved a 40 on the side of the watermelon bowl:

I’m happy we got to introduce Joel to his Grandpa and get these photos. I hope we get a few more years with Dad.

I’m thankful for my parents’ example of choosing to love and serve each other for all these years. I hope Stephen and I make it to forty years of marriage and beyond!

Hello Friends, A curious, kind, practical, and energetic writer, wife, mother, and teacher is one way to describe me. I enjoy thinking about transitions--in schools, churches, families, relationships, and even countries. I'm passionate about learning, and I love working with people. Stop by often to see which kind of transition I'm thinking about, and I would appreciate hearing your thoughts. Peace! ~Mary Hope
