The Transitions of Summer

This has been a summer full of transitions: Moving from Illinois to Minnesota, but still selling a house in Illinois (that should be wrapped up this month), my Dad passing away, traveling almost every weekend for a month and a half…

Taking a bit of time alone throughout this whole time and connecting with loved ones and God has helped me stay (mostly) steady throughout this time!

Oh, and lots of walks…

Here’s some peaceful images that have helped me transition well this summer:

What to do with your cards!

What should you do with all those beautiful greeting cards that you got to celebrate the birth of your baby? These are some of my favorites! (Just tonight I did not have the peepee teepee in place soon enough, so we got a shower onto the floor; that card about this topic is so true.) Continue reading

Lemon Love

All throughout my pregnancy I craved lemons and sourness. Now I have to be careful about eating lemons, tomatoes and citrus because my son likes to spit up if I eat those. Right now I just need to enjoy photos of lemons…I get to share them with you!

Morning Light with Hot Air Balloons

The transition between land and sky is gentle and a bit bouncy (and quieter than expected) when in a hot air balloon! Over a year ago we took a hot air ballon ride above Napa Valley, and here are a few images: Continue reading

How to Get Free Dessert After You Find Out You Are Pregnant

Are you pregnant!? Do you want to celebrate with some free dessert? Here’s what we did: After we found out we were pregnant, last spring we went to two different nice restaurants and mentioned that we were celebrating having our first baby! I was not showing for either time (I was about three months along), but the servers surprised us with free dessert both times, and it made the meal even more special. The dessert above was a key lime tart, and the second dessert was a cream puff filled with ice cream… Why not spread the joy of your pregnancy!?

Here’s some more photos:

Should I go to an Amusement Park when Pregnant? Transitioning from Wife to Wife AND Mother

When pregnant, should you spend the money to go to an amusement park, such as Six Flags or Cedar Point? The doctor will say “NO—do NOT ride roller coasters when pregnant!!” On the other hand, there are other things to do at these parks, such as gentle rides, eating the fun food, and being able to be there with someone you love. Consider these questions before you decide if you should go or not:

Stephen is in that car about to go over the edge of the Millennium Force!

John Hancock Building Lobby Spectacular!

Last night my husband and I enjoyed dinner at the John Hancock building and as we were leaving, we walked past this very sparkly display! It has water underneath it that looks like polished marble, and reflection is like glass. Looking into the center of this display reminded me of outer space.

Enjoy this cool display with me, and have a wonderful start to your week!

Catalpa Tree Blooms!

Driving to work yesterday I noticed this catalpa tree when I was waiting at a stoplight. Catalpa blooms look like little orchids with their cream background and maroon specks; they are one of my favorite blooms that come from a tree.

Happy Friday, Everyone!
